The family of the security guard has now put forward two possible motives for the death of 37-year-old Arnold Caballes. One can recall that Caballes was the one who pleaded with the gunman to spare him since he was taking care of the child. His live-in partner, Dolly Malalu-an, stated that he actually went out to secure rice for their neighbor, who was trying to "borrow" rice from them. She also said that there are two possible motives. She revealed in iFM Bacolod 943 that the day before the victim was shot, he had a dispute with someone over a sold piece of wood that is for furniture, wherein there was a piece of wood that was cut, which was not actually included in the purchase. Another possible motive was a conflict with the CAFGU member, who has actually been chatting with Dolly, but the latter was ignoring said CAFGU member.
