California scientists claim they discovered vaccine for COVID-19 in just 3 hours

A biotech company in California has claimed that it created a vaccine to combat the deadly Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19).

We learned that the scientists claimed they discovered the vaccine in just three hours after they had access to the virus’ genetic sequence. In a report by the Fox Business (authored by Evie Fordham), scientists are now racing to get the vaccine on the market to make a record.

"We have an algorithm which we designed, and we put the DNA sequence into our algorithm and came up with the vaccine in that short amount of time," Inovio Pharmaceuticals research and development director Dr. Trevor Smith said.

According to the Inovio, the vaccine would be available as early as summer. They are closely working with Beijing Advaccine, a Chinese company.

As reported by CBS News, while the vaccine has been discovered, the testing of it would take months. They will be testing it first with animals and then humans before launching it.

"It's something we are trained to do, and the infrastructure is here and the expertise is in house," Smith said.

Inovio Pharmaceuticals previously worked on vaccines for Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), Zika virus, and Ebola. The death toll in China has risen to 1,770 as of Sunday night. The Corona Virus Disease that has killed hundreds of people was first reported in Wuhan, China.
