Palawan mayor who gave generous amount of relief goods to constituents spotted carrying sacks of rice for donation

What makes an ideal leader in these tough times?

The name of a local chief executive in Narra, Palawan is making rounds online not only for providing relief goods generously but for humility too as he was spotted carrying sacks of rice for his constituents.

Couruna Laye shared via Facebook a photograph of Mayor Gerandy Danao carrying a sack of rice inside a gymnasium as his entire team prepare goods for the people. Wearing regular shirt and black face mask, Danao could be seen sweating but he continues to work.

“Mayor na, kargador pa. Mayor ng Narra, Palawan. Balewala ang isang sakong bigas. Banat na banat ang katawan sa trabaho at pagtulong sa kapwa.”

The municipal chief’s name started going popular when he won in the recent poll against the Demaala clan who’d been ruling the town for about 30 years.

He is a simple citizen who worked as a goat farmer prior to becoming an elected official. As a farmer, Danao said he shares the same vision with his constituents —  to develop their municipality and that he will serve as the voice of the poor.

Facebook user AL Bert said they received month-long rations from the local chief executive. The items they received are 30 cans of sardines, 30 packets of noodles, 30 packets of instant coffee, six pieces of soap, and three sacks of rice (not NFA).

Netizens lauded Danao’s efforts in these trying times, “Well, good job mayor for being kind and helpful to your people.” Another said, “That is a real public servant, he doesn’t mind if he gets tired just want to help. Hopefully, others would copy.”

Several netizens have also noticed that the mayor does not have a social media account to display his accomplishments; raising more praises for apparently not wanting attention for what he does. Long live, Mayor!
