Risa Hontiveros, sinabing mas maganda umano na education expert ang mamuno sa DepEd

Sen. Risa Hontiveros expressed her sentiment with regards to the news concerning the Department of Education, where presumptive vice president Sara Duterte has already agreed to lead the said agency.

In ANC's "Rundown," the senator said that an education expert must be the one who would be leading DepEd.

"I don’t know what the incoming, the presumptive vice president’s track record is in education. I would have guessed other education experts to helm that important department," the lady senator said.

According to the senator, the DepEd is one of those departments that receives the biggest budget and the mandate of the agency is connected with fighting historical revisionism.

"Napakahalaga sana… na ang hahawak ng education department—ang magpapatupad nung kaka-sponsor lang namin sa Senado na Education Commission II, ang tutugon sa iba’t ibang problemang sa ating namuong education crisis pre-pandemic up to during the pandemic until now—ay isang education expert," said the lady senator.

Ana Theresia "Risa" Navarro Hontiveros-Baraquel is a Filipino politician, journalist, and community leader. She was born on February 24, 1966. She won a seat in the Philippine Senate, placing 9th, during the 2016 general elections. Previously, she served as Akbayan sectoral representative in the Philippine House of Representatives from 2004 to 2010.
