700K kuryente bill ng isang titser, idinaan na lang sa biro: "600k lang meron ako"

Mia Guadalupe, a teacher from Pili, Camarines Sur, recently shared on Facebook the staggering electricity bill she was charged for the month.

In her post, she showed a photo of the electric bill handed her by utility company CASURECO2 which reached P700K for that month.

In a report by ABS-CBN news, Guadalupe, instead of getting angry at receiving a wrong billing, opted to just joke about it.

Writing in local Bicolano dialect, she said that at present, she only has P600K with her and needed someone to lend her the remaining P100K so she can immediately pay CASURECO2 to avoid disconnection.

“P600k lang ang meron ako. Sino pwede magpautang ng P100k para mabayaran ko na itong sa CASURECO2 ngayong buwan?” Guadalupe wrote.

She also said that she plans to pay the entire amount the following day for fear of having her service disconnected.

“Magbabayad na ako bukas kasi baka putulan ako,” she added.

Many netizens were able to relate to her post, particularly that many utility companies have raised their rates.

According to Guadalupe, however, her usual monthly bill amounts to anywhere between 6K and 7K, so she was surprised to see her electricity bill for the month reaching P700K.

“Pinapahabol ko pa sana sa asawa ko yung meter reader kaso hindi na niya raw nakita,” she said.

Radyo Bandera Roxas City reported that Guadalupe has since filed a complaint at CASURECO2 about her erroneous electricity bill.

In a report by ABN 89.5FM RADIO Pilipinas, the utility company has since apologized to Guadalupe and attributed the flawed bill to human error.

They also gave her the correct billing for Guadalupe that she had to pay for the month which is only at P5,200.
