A video of a teacher, Mailyn Calumba, in Negros Occidental has gone viral. The video was shared on Facebook by Lenard Amban Grijaldo.

The teacher waded through strong floodwaters in the river in order to be able to get to her students.

The video showed Teacher Mailyn getting instructions from a guide, whom she would be holding on to when crossing the river.

At one point, a man on the banks exclaimed when Teacher Mailyn and the guide lost their footing midway.

The man was carrying on top of his head the materials bag that Teacher Mailyn brought with her.

Before she crossed the river, a man can be heard in the background saying, "gakurog tuhod ko (my knees are trembling)."

The mayor even commended Mailyn for her heroic deed.
