4 na magkakaanak kabilang ang 2 menor-de-edad, natamaan ng batong bumagsak mula sa bundok

Four people were hurt after being struck by a rock that fell from a mountain.

According to a report by Susan Enriquez in GMA 7's 'Unang Balita,' the victims who were injured were also relatives.

The incident that left four individuals injured took place in Barangay SamareƱana, Brooke's Point, Palawan.

Among those hurt were two minors, and all the victims were rushed to the hospital for immediate treatment.

According to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, it rained in the area which could possibly has caused the land to soften, resulting in rock fall.

Following the accident, they vowed to put hazard warnings in the area to avoid the same incident from happening again.

Meanwhile, all the injured victims were reported safe.

In the Philippines, mountain rocks can fall due to several natural and human-related causes.

Heavy rains or typhoons often loosen soil and rocks, especially in steep areas, leading to landslides or rockfalls.

Earthquakes, even mild ones, can also trigger falling rocks by shaking unstable mountain slopes.

Over time, natural erosion weakens the rock base and surrounding soil, increasing the risk of rockfalls.

Human activities like road construction, mining, and deforestation disturb the natural structure of the mountains, making them more prone to rockfalls.

In volcanic areas, ground movement or eruptions can also cause rocks to break away from slopes.
